How to easily extend the operating range of collaborative robots with linear axis

Stefano Gai, Product Line Manager High Performance Actuators, SKF Motion Technologies

Collaborative robots are commonly used in many different industries to automate repetitive operations. One key limit is the robot operating range, as many times there is a need to move the whole unit horizontally or vertically. In this session we will analyse innovative plug-and-play solutions to add one or more axis to a standard universal robot, effectively increasing the operating area of the robot, hence its productivity and usability. Some real in-the-field applications will be shown to demonstrate the practical advantages of these solutions.

1. How to integrate horizontal and vertical axes on universal robot applications
2. Advantages of electro-mechanical axis in operation
3. Software interface design and functionalities
